Job Description
To drive TAZAMA Empty Container Trucks in order to facilitate safe delivery of Empty Containers from and to the Dar es Salaam Port and customers' depots.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate trucks safely and in full compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Inspect the truck before and after each trip to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Transport empty containers to and from the port, customer depots, factories, or any other customer locations on time.
- Ensure that the container is securely locked and properly fastened before starting the journey.
- Maintain and manage transportation documents such as delivery notes, gate passes, and waybills.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or operational challenges promptly.
- Keep the truck clean and ensure it receives timely maintenance and servicing.
- Follow trip schedules and instructions provided by the employer or transport supervisor.
- Work closely with depot staff, port personnel, and customers during the loading and unloading of containers.
- Safeguard company assets, including the truck, containers, and other equipment.
- Comply with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures, including wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE) whenever necessary.
- Record trip details, fuel consumption, and any other information required by the company.
Minimum Qualifications
- Form IV Certificate
- Driving License Class E and C, C1, D
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent Communication skills, both oral and written in English and Swahili
- Understanding of Good Customer relations
- Clean driving record
- Ability to work under demanding conditions
- Computer literate
- Defensive driving skills
Minimum Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years of continuous relevant work experience
